I was contacted by young Michaela a few weeks ago about a possible modeling career and she explained to me she had a shoot with a so called agency and was not sure if the pictures were very good but she had paid a lot of money for them, myself and a colleague had a look at these so called agency pro shots and they were awful I wont go into why just to say young girls who want a career in modeling should be very careful where they go to have their portfolio shot as there are many SO CALLED professional photographers who don't care about what they shoot just that they get your money. Modeling is not easy I don't care what anybody says it takes great control of your entire body and facial expressions and an understanding of what the photographer is trying to achieve it is a two way street if the photographer cannot portray to a young model what they are trying to achieve then the shoot will be a disastor..I invited Michaela for a test shoot to see how she was in-front of the camera and to show her how it should be done, the shot is not perfect she struggled a little with the body poise and facial expression but i think she did a good job for her first shoot, I hope you all agree...

Wonderful images. I think to be your a great photgrapher like yourself you have to be your own worst critic and be hard on yourself. Picturing the body is never easy.
I've been following the work of photography students at coventry who are producing interesting ways of photographing the body at http://photography.covmedia.co.uk/team/
